The Banfi winery was born in 1978 from the idea of 2 Italian American brothers, John and Harry Mariani, flanked by one of the greatest Italian winemakers, Ezio Rivella, who believes in the development potential of their project thanks to the richness of the nature of the soil and the privileged microclimatic position of the territories located south of Montalcino, on the border with the Val d'Orcia.

In those years, the brothers John and Harry also took over the historic Piedmontese Bruzzone winery, active since 1860 and specialized in the production of sparkling wines. The property extends between the municipalities of Novi Ligure and Acqui Terme, used almost entirely as a vineyard.
Thus was born the Piedmont brand of the group, Banfi Piemonte, which represents the perfect union between the centuries-old sparkling wine tradition and the oenological experience gained by the company.

The love for Tuscany has recently brought Banfi closer to new territories. These include: Bolgheri, where the small estate blends the legendary history of the Etruscans with the production of Bolgheri DOC; Maremma, territory dedicated to the production of Vermentino; Chianti, privileged territory for the birth of the Chianti Classico.

To preserve the integrity and richness of the grapes, the company carries out numerous scientific research projects such as the clonal selection studies of the Sangiovese, research on timber (fundamental in the process of aging of the wine), and, in particular, the construction of a new wine-making area called "Horizon" to improve the production process.

The great Banfi wines, mainly red, evolve in the woods and are distinguished by power, elegance and longevity.
