Classic biscuits for soaking with almonds - Traditional Sicilian product
Similar to Tuscan cantucci, Piparelle are traditional Messina sweets made mainly with honey, almonds and flour. Tasty and crunchy, Piparelle, or pipareddi in Sicilian dialect, are dry biscuits whose irresistible crunchiness is due to the cooking method. After an initial cooking, the whole loaf is cut into more or less thin slices which are placed in the oven again for a few minutes. The second cooking makes them toasty and crumbly. A unique goodness, an indispensable after meal!
Try them soaked in wine, especially in sweet wines such as Passito di Pantelleria or Malvasia delle Lipari. Perfect to munch on at any time of the day for a tasty break.
