Chianti Classico par excellence, Fonterutoli is the main wine of the Marchesi Mazzei winery. From the separate vinification of the various parcels of the company located in the Chianti area, this important Chianti Classico DOCG is born, aged in French oak.

Altitude: 220-570 m above sea level

Soil: Very rich in skeleton, predominantly Alberese, varied and complex texture with a calcareous/marly base

Climate: mild winter with little rainfall, dry and arid summer. The heat, already present in spring, allowed the thickening of the skins, guaranteeing the grapes a good resistance during maturation

Average age of the vineyard: 17-37 years

Training system: spurred cordon

Type of pruning: guyot

Density of vines per ha: 4500-7500 plants

Harvest: manual harvest from 7 September

Fermentation: 26–28°C for 16-18 days

Aging: 12 months in 225 and 500 lt French oak barrels. Finissage in cement tanks for 30-45 days
