Merlot is an international red grape varietal, but when grown in Sicily it produces a full-bodied wine with considerable aromatic intensity such as Merlot by Feudo Arancio.

Production area: Sambuca di Sicilia, province of Agrigento

Soil: drained and not very sunny

Type of training: espalier

Average planting density: 4,500 plants per hectare

Harvest period: mid-August

Vinification: after harvesting at perfect aromatic and polyphenolic ripeness, de-stemming and alcoholic fermentation with the skins follow at 26°C for 10 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place with selected bacteria, followed by maturation for 10 months in 2-year-old French oak barrels

Color: ruby ​​red with slightly violet reflections

Bouquet: full and intense, with aromas of ripe red fruit such as cherry, raspberry and blackberry with slight nuances of marmalade red fruits, surrounded by spicy notes deriving from the wood

Taste: medium-structured wine that expresses an enveloping softness and very soft tannins

Alcoholic degree: 13.5%

Pairings: it goes well with medium-aged cold cuts, legume soups, grilled meats, roasts, boiled meats and savory cheeses. Ideal with the timbale of tagliolini with artichokes

Serving temperature: 16-18°C
