White Wines

It takes its name from the woods of the town of Salemi. Angimbé, a wine marked by its scent ranging from the perfume of fresh flowers to that of ripe fruit, is born from the union of the Sicilian personality of Insolia grapes and the elegance of Chardonnay grapes.

Containers called Pithoi were used for fermentation, which gave the wines their particular smell and taste of quality which still endures today.

Zibibbo Lighea by Donnafugata - Pantelleria Estate
Lighea by Donnafugata is a Sicilian white wine, a dry version of Zibibbo. It has a rich aromatic bouquet in which floral notes of orange blossom, hints of citrus fruits such as cedar and bergamot, and of exotic fruits, the lychee, stand out. Versatile and with Mediterranean aromas, it is a complex and innovative wine with an original label that portrays Lighea, the bewitching siren of a tale by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa.

Eruzione 1614 Carricante by Planeta is a Sicilian white wine from Carricante grapes, with a small addition of Riesling. The cultivation on black soils rich in minerals of the Sciaranuova vineyard, at an altitude of 890 m on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, give this wine minerality, freshness and flavor.

In the most ancient vineyards of the estate, on the hill overlooking Mandranova plain, Catarratto reveals its full potential in one of its highest expressions. Catarratto Vigna di Mandranova is an elegant wine, to be uncorked in special moments. Seductive and harmonious in its fruity and floral bouquet, it will pleasantly surprise you with its spicy and mineral ending.

Prio Catarratto Lucido - Donnafugata Cellars
Sensual and fragrant white wine, Prio by Donnafugata is a Catarratto, or Lucido, an indigenous Sicilian mono-varietal that gives joy at the first sip. Fresh and pleasant on the palate, it offers marked citrus scents of cedar and grapefruit and delicate floral notes of elderberry. Perfect to sip and share with friends.

Cavanera Ripa di Scorciavacca is a Bianco Etna DOC cru that encapsulates in its intense and refined bouquet the aromas and complexity of a unique terroir in the field of Sicilian viticulture—the Etna Volcano. Firriato white, a union of Carricante and Catarratto. The vines’ strength give the wine a decisive character, with a balanced acidity and softness and an extraordinary potential longevity.

White wine from Carricante and Catarratto on volcanic soil, Etna Bianco is a wine with a scent of white fruit and jasmine flowers with light citrus notes. On the palate it is fresh, pleasant and harmonious.

From the synthesis between tradition and innovation, Bertolino Soprano is born, a fragrant and seductive Grillo grown on limestone soils.

Produced from a grape that loves altitude and lava lands, Riesling Eruzione 1614 is a cru of Etna grown in the Sciaranuova vineyards, at whose border the legendary eruption of 1614, which lasted 10 years, stopped.

Làvico Etna Bianco DOC - Duca di Salaparuta
Lavico Bianco by Duca di Salaparuta is a savory but at the same time fresh and balanced Etna wine. Obtained from Carricante grapes, an indigenous vine of the Etna area, this white wine surprises for its minerality and structure given to it by the extraordinary volcanic terroir. A lively Etna white wine with unexpected longevity.

Larcéra Mandrarossa - Organic Vermentino from Sicily
Sicilian wine from organic grapes, Larcera is the Vermentino by Mandrarossa, a fresh, mineral, savory and versatile white wine. The quality and excellent yield of the vine are due to the exposure of the vineyards to the south, the climate of the area and the proximity of the sea.

Obtained from 100% Carricante grapes, Contrada Calderara is the Etna Bianco from the Cottanera winery. Produced in Castiglione di Sicilia in the vineyards of Contrada Calderara, it is a complex white wine, with a marked minerality and destined for longevity.

Obtained from 100% Vermentino grapes grown on the Suor Marchesa estate, Sentiero del Vento represents the latest example of the vocation of the Duca di Salaparuta winery to experiment and evolve.
