The experimentation in the Regaleali estate of the most famous international red grapes has led to the creation of an amazing Cabernet Sauvignon. A powerful and austere but at the same time fresh wine. Excellent quality and body characterize the 2019 vintage.

Denomination: Sicilia DOC – Contea of Sclafani

Grape Variety: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon

Production Area: Tenuta Regaleali, Palermo, Sicily

Year of planting: 1985

Vineyards: Hills of S. Francesco of 9 Ha

Altitude: 532-585 m a.s.l.

Exposure: south-east of the Canalotto valley

Terrain: moderately deep soil, formed by sands and sandstones with variable grain. The texture is partly clayey and calcareous, with a slightly alkaline pH (8.3). It has a normal content of organic matter and is rich in mineral salts such as magnesium and potassium, while it is poor in phosphorus

Climate: The 2019 vintage was characterized by a cold and rainy winter, with unusual snowfalls. Spring and summer were very hot and dry. Some rain in June favored the good ripening of the fruit

Grape yield per hectare: 90 quintals

Harvest: manual, 21st September 2019

Vinification: traditional in red in stainless steel tanks at 20-28°C for 20 days

Malolactic fermentation: completely carried out

Refinement: in 100% new 225 liter French oak barrels (Allier and Tronçais) for 18 months

Analytical data of the wine: pH 3.60 - AT 31.60 g/l - ZR 0.8 g/l - ET 32.40 g/l

Alcohol content: 14% vol

Color: Ruby red of excellent intensity with garnet reflections.

Nose: hints of wild berries, vanilla, black pepper, tobacco, cinnamon, mint, sage

Palate: Rich in ripe and concentrated fruit, soft, elegant, balanced.

Aftertaste: Sweet and persistent, grapey tannin

Serving temperature: 16-18°C
