Nero d'Avola grapes are native to the island of Sicily and were used make this wine - in has a distinctively varietal aroma and has a very attractive red - violet colour with purple edges.

The palate elegant and savoury Nero d'Avola typical of the best of Sicily and the palate is intense with concentrated dark cherry fruits with good structure and length. Maturation in oak barrels gives a touch of sweetness to complement the dark plun and spice finish. Best with duckling and finer cuts of meat.
clove, cardamom and cumin appear as pretty accents over a thick base of fruity cassis and blackberry. There are aromas of cigar and roasted chestnut in there as well and the wine offers dried herbs and chopped mint on the finish.
