Unicum Riserva - Digestive liqueur
Amaro Unicum Riserva is a distillate of over 40 aromatic herbs and spices produced in limited quantities according to a secret recipe of the Zwack family.
Its peculiarity is the double aging, first in the largest and oldest barrel of the distillery used for over 80 years and then in the Tokaji Aszu barrel, the famous Hungarian sweet wine aged for years in the Tokaji cellars.
Aging in the first barrel gives it depth and character thanks to the patina acquired by the wood over the decades, known as "black honey". In the Tokaji Aszu barrel, however, the Unicum Riserva acquires the sensual sweetness typical of Tokaji. The result is a Unico amaro as defined in 1790 by the king of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Joseph II, exclaiming: "Dr. Zwack, das ist ein unikum" (Dr. Zwack, this is unique!)
Color: intense amber with impertinent ruby veins
Nose: fruity with hints of dried apricots and spicy nutmeg, cloves and vanilla, with a mint flavor in the background.
Palate: round, full-bodied, in which bitter and herbaceous notes blend with the sweetness and silkiness of Tokaji honey
Tip: Drink straight at the end of a meal to appreciate all its nuances
