Towards the end of the 60’s, Count Giuseppe decided to create a special reserve of Regaleali Rosso, capable of aging like other great international red wines. A challenge he won in 1970 and renewed in successive vintages.

A wine long meditated upon, fruit of research conducted with rigour and passion for many years, both among the vines and in the cellar. Rosso del Conte is produced with Nero d’Avola from plants more than forty years old, cultivated as shrubs, almost unique today in Sicily.
Vineyards: San Lucio (Nero d’Avola) 6.7 ha.
Age of vineyard: 1959 e 1965.
Training system: Bush and Spurred cord.
Vines per Ha: 4 t.
Soil: Medium mixture with a tendency to wards clayey texture.
Vineyard exposure: South, South-East.
Harvest period: September 27th and October 10th 2001.

Malolactic fermentation: Totally developped.
Fermentation: Traditional in red.
Maceration skin-contact during: 12 days at 26-28° C. controlled temperature.
Fermentation temperature: 28°C.
Refinement: 18 months in french oak (Allier & Tronçais) 225 l tonneaux, 80% new, 20% second passage; 8 months in bottle..
Bottling: May 2006.
Alcohol content: 14% Vol.
Appellation: Red D.O.C. - Contea di Sclafani.
Colour: Deep, deep ruby, turning into violet.
Bouquet: Cherry, marasca, walnut husk, wild berries, vanilla, cinnamon, mint, sage and tobacco.
Taste: Rich of ripe fruit concentrate, fragrant, balanced.
After taste: Mouthfilling, soft and persistent sweet tannin.
