Wines Sicilian

Many grapes are made into raisins, used in local cooking, and Sicilian grapes also play a large role in creating dessert wines, which require a higher concentration of grapes and are consumed in smaller quantities. In fact, in the world of international wine, Sicily is renowned for the many outstanding dessert wines, such as the world-famous Marsala, Moscato di Pantelleria & Malvasia delle Lipari. 

The traditional varieties cultivated on the island include: red grape varieties such as Nero d'Avola (today experiencing a significant renaissance in the market), Nerello Cappuccio and Mascalese, Carricante, Nocera, Perricone and Frappato; white grape varieties such as Catarratto, Grecanico, Grillo, Inzolia, Malvasia delle Lipari and Zibibbo or Moscato.
In addition to the traditional varieties listed above, today there are numerous non-traditional varieties grown on the island which include: red varieties such as Cabernet-Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Merlot; white varieties such as Chardonnay, Viognier, Muller Thurgau and Sauvignon blanc.

Let yourself be inebriated by a glass of Contrada S 2019 red wine by Passopisciaro. Contrada S, Sciaranuova, was formed with the casting just 200 years ago and in fact Sciaranuova means "new casting". The red wine obtained from this terroir is deep, with a broad complexion, with a note of fermented hay.

Contrada R, Rampante, is the highest district of Passopisciaro, located at over 1000 m high, and the vineyards grown here they are over 100 years old.
Alhambra Sicilian White Wine Spadafora

This is a fresh wine, which should be consumed within two years. The name refers to my family's Spanish origins and we produce 75,000 bottles of it.
The grapes are equal quantities of Catarratto and Inzolia, fermented separately. The wines are blended in November.
Syrah Spadafora Organic Red Wine

Syrah is grown in different ways in the winery, depending on the intended use for the grapes, so these grapes come from a sunnier area than the first but have quite a different plant yield, in order to ensure a concentration that will make this wine ready to rest a year in small oak barrels, which have been previously used for our third Syrah.

This is the second red wine of the range and, unlike the red label Syrah, it is a structured wine with the typical elegance of a Sicilian Bordeaux blend, therefore Nero d'Avola, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Let yourself be inebriated by Passorosso 2020 by Passopisciaro, a Sicilian wine from Etna fruit of the assembly of ancient Nerello Mascalese grapes, coming from vineyards in the districts (Malpasso, Chiappemacine, Moganazzi, Feudodimezzo, Santo Spirito, Sciaranuova and Guardiola) which are located in different altitudes along the northern slope of Etna. Vintage of excellent quality, Passorosso 2020 is a wine of the right balance and with sinuously fresh and vertical fruit, thanks also to a perfect phasing between technological and phenolic maturity. A complete wine in body and aroma.
