NAME: Vittoria DOC FRAPPATO Sicily

GRAPES: Frappato

PRODUCTION AREA: south-eastern Sicily, in the territory of Acate, between the Ibleo plateau and the sea.

LAND AND CLIMATE: altitude 120-150 meters s.l.m .; gently sloping land; soils tending to sandy interspersed with a substrate of calcareous tuffs and soils of medium texture; pH 7,7, total limestone 21%. The climate is warm temperate, mitigated in the summer by a breeze coming from the sea, as well as by good temperature ranges between day and night.

VINEYARD: counter-espalier farming with spurred cordon pruning, leaving 6 to 10 buds per plant. Plant density 4,000-4,500 plants per hectare; yields of 70-80 quintals / ha.

VINTAGE 2018: the climate of the year was fairly regular with rains slightly above average and mainly concentrated in spring and some days of summer. The accurate agronomic management has favored a harmonious vegetative-production cycle giving life to grapes that have reached the right sugary, aromatic and phenolic ripeness. Unlike the previous year, there were no early maturations.

HARVEST: the harvest time was chosen with extreme care, so some Frappato vineyards were harvested between 10 and 12/9 and others between 17 and 23/9.

VINIFICATION: the fermentation is carried out in steel with maceration on the skins for about 8-9 days at a temperature of 24-25 ° C. Aging 4 months in the tank and at least 3 months in the bottle.

ANALYTICAL DATA: alcohol 12.70% vol., Total acidity: 5.3 g / l., PH: 3.50.

TASTING NOTES (04/19/2019): from the ruby ​​red color with violet reflections, to the smell Bell’Assai 2018 presents intense floral notes of violet and rose, as well as fruity hints of raspberry and strawberry. It is fresh and fragrant and with a soft tannin that enhances its pleasantness.

LONGEVITY: 3-4 years.

FOOD & WINE: perfect to drink by the glass, it goes well with grilled vegetables, salami and tasty fish dishes like soups. Also excellent on tuna sushi. Serve in medium-sized glasses, it can be uncorked at the moment, very slightly cool (15-16 ° C).
