Eruzione 1614 Carricante by Planeta is a Sicilian white wine from Carricante grapes, with a small addition of Riesling. The cultivation on black soils rich in minerals of the Sciaranuova vineyard, at an altitude of 890 m on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, give this wine minerality, freshness and flavor.

The Carricante Eruzione 1614 from the Planeta winery takes its name from the legendary 10-year eruption of Etna in 1614, the longest of all time, which stopped right on the edge of the Sciaranuova vineyards. A strongly evocative name for this Etna Cru.

Type of soil: the soils have perfect exposure and position, black due to the lava sands, and therefore extraordinarily rich in minerals; around woods and more recent lava flows

Training System: espalier with spurred cordon and Guyot pruning system
Vine density: 5,050 plants per hectare.
Harvest period: Carricante 18-22 October; Riesling 18 September
Vinification: the grapes, harvested in the crate, are immediately refrigerated at 8°C; selected by hand and sent to a light crushing and destemming and soft pressing. The decanted must is decanted and inoculated with yeasts and ferments at 15°C, in stainless steel. The wine thus obtained remains on the fine lees until March with continuous agitation.

Nose: explosion of aromas of ripe fruit and aromas of white flowers that magically transport the taster to the slopes of the Etna mountain
Palate: On the palate the wine manages to combine softness and gustatory grit with a drinkability rich in a sincere fruitiness of lemon peel and green apple linked to an enthralling minerality that lengthens the finish.
Pairings: Extraordinary companion of fish-based dishes of a certain fatness and in any case ideal for any gastronomic idea conceived by the sea.
Aging capacity: great potential, from 7 to 10 years.
