From many generations the Planeta family has been dedicated to farming in the area of Sambuca di Siclia and Menfi, in the province of Agrigento, and it as always been in the forefront of developments in Sicilian agriculture. The future production of wine began in 1985 on the shore of the Lake Arancio, near Sambuca di Sicilia, with the main aim being to demonstrate the value of Sicilian wines. Since the first vineyards was planted the Planeta family has concentrated on three important goals: - to gain recognition to the indigenous grape varieties; - to adapt the best international vines to the particular conditions of Sicily; - o restore the fascinating and historic Sicilian D.O.C.;
Derived from the name of the wild flower that grows around our cellar, Alastro is a Grecanico blended with a particularly aromatic variety, Sauvignon Blanc. It is a delicately structured wine, with aromas of tropical fruit, fresh citrus and white flowers.

Moscato Bianco Allemanda is an opening baroque dance, as well as our Moscato Bianco. Dry, with intense scents of jasmine and citrus fruit, it is the fruit of the white and sun-drenched lands of Noto. A personal interpretation of an aperitif wine produced from indigenous aromatic grape varieties.
Toast with Planeta's bubbles. Planeta's Brut Metodo Classico is a sparkling wine produced from autochthonous Carricante grapes grown in a climate-friendly environment. It is harvested in advance and processed with the utmost care and with the expert advice of Josef Reiterer. All operations are carried out manually for a brut that explores the black lands of Etna.
In local dialect Burdese means ‘bordolese’ (from Bordeaux) and refers to the classic grapes of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This is a red wine of great density, structure and balance, produced in limited quantity from selected vineyards. Burdese is a splendid wine for aging that offers a complexity of aromas and flavours, a product of the Sicilian sun.
From the beautiful countryside of Dorilli, between the sea and the Iblei mountains, the Cerasuolo di Vittoria of Cantine Planeta is born, a Sicilian red wine obtained from the native Nero d'Avola and Frappato varieties. The name of the only DOCG in Sicily derives from "Cerasa", the cherry in Sicilian dialect. The Cerasuolo di Planeta combines tradition and the pleasantness of wine.
Today Planeta’s Chardonnay is an icon for the whole of Sicily. The vines of Ulmo and Maroccoli which create it are unique in their location and terroir. Its fermentation and maturing in French barrels, which by now has been carefully planned for years, delivers an extraordinarily graceful, powerful wine.
A great white wine from southern Italian grapes which can be compared with the most important white wines of the world; this was the initial intention. During the 1990′s this was the aim of our experiments with Fiano, a noble and ancient variety originating in Campania.
The Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli comes from a careful selection of the vineyards that surround the beautiful and unique estate of Dorilli, named after the nearby river Dirillo. A fine and elegant expression, fruit of the union of the noble Nero d’Avola with the Frappato of Vittoria, slightly marked by the refinement in wood.
Eruzione 1614 Carricante by Planeta is a Sicilian white wine from Carricante grapes, with a small addition of Riesling. The cultivation on black soils rich in minerals of the Sciaranuova vineyard, at an altitude of 890 m on the northern slopes of Mount Etna, give this wine minerality, freshness and flavor.

The history of Etna is studded with the historic eruptions which have shaped it. The legendary one of 1614, lasting ten years and the longest ever recorded, halted right on the border of the vineyards of Sciaranuova. A strongly evocative name for our Cru dell’Etna based on Nerello Mascalese.

Carricante grapes This wine is produced in our Feudo di Mezzo winery, lying in the centre of Etna’s wine growing area, from Carricante grapes partially fermented in barriques. This is the result of searching for an expression of this noble grape cultivated in the unique and splendid terroir of Etna.
Among the wines produced on Etna, choose Planeta's Etna Rosso. This Sicilian red wine was born in the Feudo di Mezzo cellar, located in the heart of Etnean viticulture. It is obtained from pure Nerello Mascalese grapes grown in the splendid and unique Etna terroir.

Our Merlot has enjoyed international attention since its first vintage. It has a small production from the hilly vineyards of Ulmo and Maroccoli. Nocera is a noble variety grown in a few hectares in Capo Milazzo, in the Messina area, in an absolutely spectacular vineyard surrounded by the sea, by ancient olive trees and under the gaze of the islands. The Barone Lucifero Foundation which owns the fund uses part of the proceeds for socio-cultural and recreational activities for the children of the Milazzo area.
Planeta’s Passito is the expression of our wish to produce modern wines which reflect the unique character of our lands. A very ancient wine which has been revived through a modern system of the passito process.
Among the red wines of the Planeta Cellars we offer you the Mamertino, whose name dates back to when the Mamertinis produced this wine described by Pliny and loved by Julius Caesar in Milazzo. It is a Sicilian blend of Nero d'Avola and Nocera grapes grown in The Baronia vineyard in Capo Milazzo. The Barone Lucifero Foundation, owner of the fund, uses part of the proceeds for socio-cultural and recreational activities for children in the Milazzo area.
Produced from a grape that loves altitude and lava lands, Riesling Eruzione 1614 is a cru of Etna grown in the Sciaranuova vineyards, at whose border the legendary eruption of 1614, which lasted 10 years, stopped.

Grillo The terebinth is a shrub with glossy fronds, always associated with Sicily and the Mediterranean countryside from east to west. The Planeta Terebinto is a single-variety Grillo; aromatic and intense on the nose with notes of pink grapefruit, balanced and complex on the palate.
