Riesling Eruzione 1614 Planeta
Produced from a grape that loves altitude and lava lands, Riesling Eruzione 1614 is a cru of Etna grown in the Sciaranuova vineyards, at whose border the legendary eruption of 1614, which lasted 10 years, stopped.
TYPE OF SOIL: the soils have perfect exposure and position, black due to the lava sands, and therefore extraordinarily rich in minerals; around woods and more recent lava flows.
ALTITUDE: 815 meters above sea level
YIELD PER HECTARE: 60 quintals
TRAINING SYSTEM: Guyot.
PLANT DENSITY: 5,000 plants per hectare.
HARVEST PERIOD: September 26th.
VINIFICATION: the grapes, harvested in the crate, are immediately refrigerated at 8 ° C; selected by hand and sent to a light crushing and destemming and soft pressing. The decanted must is decanted and inoculated with yeasts and ferments at 15 ° C, in stainless steel. The wine thus obtained remains on the fine lees until March with continuous agitation.
BOTTLING PERIOD: July
ALCOHOL CONTENT: 12.50% vol.
TOTAL ACIDITY: 6.57 g / l.
AGING CAPACITY: great potential, from 7 to 10 years.
ORGANOLEPTIC NOTES: A unique wine, the first Riesling on Etna and in Sicily. Soft color with green reflections, still young nose with all the typical precursors of the "variety of kings": white apple, plum, lemon, flowers
Detective stories. On the palate it is perfectly dry, with a not excessive acidity. The taste is perhaps its strong point in this youthful phase, with that “mineral” taste on which many experts compare in order to describe it.
PAIRING: Its vibrant acidity and pronounced sapidity goes well with all 'pure' tastes: mackerel and snapper, prepared in the oven or steamed, dishes based on rice and vegetables, raw vegetables and in ethnic cuisines with sashimi, or by changing continent with quesadillas.
