The hazelnut groves of the Nebrodi mountains provide the raw material for the characteristic Pastareale di Tortorici, which in other areas of Sicily has almonds as its first ingredient.

Slow Food Presidium, Sulla Honey takes its name from the pollination of Sulla (Hedysarium coronarium), a perennial herbaceous plant, typical of the Mediterranean, belonging to legumes. It is a spring honey of Sicilian Black Bee. It has laxative and diuretic properties and is restorative and energizing. It is ideal for sportsmen and children.

Carob honey, like all winter honeys, is richer in antioxidants and polyphenols than other honeys. Crystallizing quickly, it takes on an almost creamy consistency similar to a toffee to slowly melt in the mouth. In addition to its diuretic and anti-anaemic properties, Sicilian black bee carob honey is a Sicilian nectar recommended for smokers because it is an excellent antiseptic for the respiratory tract.
