Baglio di Pianetto: the dream of a family and its passion for wine

Buy the high-altitude wines of Baglio di Pianetto on TerraMadre.it, excellent wines produced in a sustainable way and under a certified organic regime.

The Baglio di Pianetto winery was founded in 1997 in the Pianetto district, in a suggestive mountainous amphitheater in the municipality of Santa Cristina Gela, in the province of Palermo. Baglio di Pianetto was founded by Count Paolo Marzotto who, from an early age, during a holiday in Sicily, showed his great passion for wine and his deep love for Sicily and its mountains.

Baglio di Pianetto wines from sustainable mountain viticulture

Even though Sicily is an area dedicated to viticulture, only 3.8% of the vineyard area is of mountainous origin. And it is precisely in an extraordinary mountain terroir that Count Marzotto began the wine production of Baglio di Pianetto.

The Baglio di Pianetto estate extends over 106 hectares of high hills and mountains, planted with 13 varieties of vineyards, at an altitude of 900 meters above sea level. The exposure, the wind, the altitude, the strong temperature range of 26 degrees between day and night and the clayey soils rich in minerals allow the production of wines characterized by freshness, complexity, elegance and unique aroma.

In 2002 the new one-of-a-kind cellar was inaugurated. It is an innovative, completely sustainable, vertically developed winery.
