The Michele Satta winery was founded in 1983 by a boy who recently graduated in Agriculture with a passion for winemaking.
Michele Satta's dream began to take shape in 1987 with the purchase of good land on which he planted his first vineyard in 1991. Between owned land and rented land, the vineyards reach 23 hectares and are located in the center of the municipality of Castagneto Carducci. This is precisely the production area of the Bolgheri DOC, an area that overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea to the west and is otherwise surrounded by hills whose water reserves make the land fertile and never arid.
Michele Satta, in the wake of Saccicaia and Ornellaia but with the desire to enhance the Mediterranean terroir of Bolgheri, decides to combine the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with Sangiovese, Syrah, Teroldego and Viognier grapes. From this vision, in addition to the classic Bolgheri, such as Bolgheri Rosso and Bolgheri Bianco Costa di Giulia, and the "Bolgheri Superiore", "Piastraia" and "I Castagni", wines are also born in purity such as Giovin Re, 100% Viognier.
