Light straw yellow wine with greenish tints. The aroma is fresh and vegetable, with notes of broom and salt. The taste is fresh, lively and agreeable.

Only the best Moscato (100%) grapes are selected, grown at 50 metres above sea level on the Baroni Estate in Noto. The grapes are dried producing a wine golden in colour with intense and persistent perfume of oranges, peaches, apricots and orange flowers. Harmonious, gentle and elegant. On the palate it is quite sweet, fresh, well balanced, mounthfilling and persistent.

A pure, powerful merlot, Grammonte is full bodied with a persistent aftertaste. Dark, dense, ruby-red, with a refined flavour. With scents of ripe red fruit, morello cherries, black cherries and prunes, as well as floral notes, blended with some mineral nuances, graphite, tobacco and vanilla.

Cottanera have created a blend with 15% of international varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot), which definitely adds fruit and richness to this easy-going cuvee. The fruit is leathery, backed up by taut tannins, and there's an enticing spicy, vegetal note to the nose. Barrique aging has been well judged to round out the palate, without dominating it.

100% Viognier, we believe this excellent grape represents a wine for the future which is not yet very well known in Sicily. The wine shows the skills of the Sicilian winemaking techniques. The green harvest, the sun, the altitude and the meticulous selection of grapes are matured for three mounths in barriques, giving extra complexity to this wine.

The grapes Viognier (50%) and Insolia (50%), are grown at 650 metres above sea level on the Pianetto Estate in S. Cristina Gela; they are mixed together to produce a wine that is fresh and elegant wuth intense and persistent aromas; in the beginning there are floral notes, then slowly the change to tropical fruits.

A good intensive rubin colour, Nume has clean perfumes of brushwood, blackberries, currant, that are woven with notes of chocolate and tobacco above a deep coolness of grasses.

The grapes Petit Verdot (100%) are grown at 650 metres above sea level in the Pianetto Estate in S. Cristina Gela. It is a rich and complex wine matured in Allier oak barrels for 14 mounths. Intense nose, lightly herbaceous with hints of liquorice, bitter cocoa and balsamic notes and spices. Intense red colour with a big strucureand persistent finish. Excellent axample of a great wine.

The grapes Nero D’Avola (100%) selected for Cembali are produced from vineyards (8625 wines per herctare) sligtly inclined on the Baroni Estate in the area of Noto, historically known for producing Nero D'Avola. The grapes are matured in Allier barriques for 14 mounths. Ruby colour with a complex aroma of black fruit and spices. Rich, deep and generous with a very long length.

Salici 100% Merlot, the grapes benefit from the difference in temperatures between day and night that is characteristic of the Pianetto area. After the vinification the wine is matured for 12 mounths in Allier oak barrels. Ruby colour with garnet hue, on the nose one detects blackberries, blackcurrants, vanilla and toasted bread.

The grapes Syrah are grown at 50 metres above sea level on the Baroni Estate in Noto, blended with the grapes Merlot, which are grown at 650 metres above sea level on the Pianetto Estate in S. Cristina Gela.

Barbazzale Etna Rosso DOC - Cantina Cottanera
Among the red wines of Etna we offer Barbazzale from the Cottanera winery. Produced in the Castiglione di Sicilia area, on the northern slope of Etna, from native Nerello Mascalese grapes with a small percentage of Nerello Cappuccio, Barbazzale Rosso is a wine with mineral nuances, pleasantly fresh and with good acidity. Ruby red in color with violet reflections, Syrah Sole di Sesta has notes of red fruit in good synergy with a fresh Mediterranean nuance and a base where spicy notes of chocolate and black pepper stand out. Etna Rosso Contrada Diciassettesalme is one of the crus of the Cottanera winery. Produced in Castiglione di Sicilia in the vineyards of the Diciassettesalme district, from 100% native Nerello Mascalese grapes, it is a red wine of great structure and complexity, with a rich bouquet in fruity, herbaceous and mineral notes and with a slightly balsamic finish.

Obtained from 100% Carricante grapes, Contrada Calderara is the Etna Bianco from the Cottanera winery. Produced in Castiglione di Sicilia in the vineyards of Contrada Calderara, it is a complex white wine, with a marked minerality and destined for longevity.
