Wines Sicilian

Many grapes are made into raisins, used in local cooking, and Sicilian grapes also play a large role in creating dessert wines, which require a higher concentration of grapes and are consumed in smaller quantities. In fact, in the world of international wine, Sicily is renowned for the many outstanding dessert wines, such as the world-famous Marsala, Moscato di Pantelleria & Malvasia delle Lipari.

The traditional varieties cultivated on the island include: red grape varieties such as Nero d'Avola (today experiencing a significant renaissance in the market), Nerello Cappuccio and Mascalese, Carricante, Nocera, Perricone and Frappato; white grape varieties such as Catarratto, Grecanico, Grillo, Inzolia, Malvasia delle Lipari and Zibibbo or Moscato.
In addition to the traditional varieties listed above, today there are numerous non-traditional varieties grown on the island which include: red varieties such as Cabernet-Sauvignon, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc and Merlot; white varieties such as Chardonnay, Viognier, Muller Thurgau and Sauvignon blanc.

Wines Red

Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s oldest native grape and rightly deserving of the high acclaim which it now receives.
Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio are smaller players amongst Sicily’s leading red grapes but are key natives around Mount Etna. The two are blended to create Etna Rosso.
Cerasuolo di Vittoria, which blends Frappato and Nero d’Avola, is more famous in the south east around Ragusa.
Other red grapes include Calabrese, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah (originally from southern France).

White Wines

Far from being stuck in the past, however, Sicily also holds its own with exciting blends, such as the traditional Chardonnay varietal with natives Grillo, Inzolia, Cataratto, Grecanico. White wines stand out for freshness, minerality and aromatic complexity.

Sweet Wines

Sicily produces some excellent sweet wines, of which the most famous is the Moscato di Pantelleria, made from Zibbibo, and the Moscato di Siracusa, made from the white Muscat grape. The sweet Malvasia wine is produced on the island of Lipari. Made from grapes with high sugar content, dessert wines have experienced a resurgence in popularity thanks to modern cuisine. Usually served as a digestive, dessert wines also go splendidly with certain main dishes and entrées.

Wines sparkling

This popular Italian sparkling wine is dry and crisp on the palate and a super wine for aperitif or for that special celebration. The base wines of a Classic Method sparkling wine are made from all or some of the following grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier which last grape variety in Italy is generally replaced by different grapes, such as Pinot Blanc (as far as Italian Classic Method spumante is concerned).

Wines rosé

Our Rosè, fresh and fruity, embodies all the feelings of a Sicilian summer. Its colour is that of a summer sunset. The fresh aroma of strawberries make it a marvellously friendly and easy to drink wine in good company, as an aperitif with tapas, fried fish, fresh salads or just with fresh fruit.

Outside Region

We select some excellent Italian wine such as Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino Tuscan Company Castiglione del Bosco, made famous by the sangiovese. The Maremma region is represented by the Morellino di Scansano and Chianti Classico. Ending with the Veneto region represented by Amarone della Valpolicella and Lugana Reserve Zenato and could not miss the Pinot Grigio Volpe Pasini.

International

We begin our selection of international wines with the wines of Bordeaux and one of the most famous Bordeaux wine areas, Saint-Émilion.
The three main grape varieties with which Bordeaux red wines are produced are Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Among the less famous Bordeaux white wines than the reds, we offer a blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle grapes.

The name itself in the local Burdisi/Burdese dialect means Bordeaux and refers to the classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.
