From many generations the Planeta family has been dedicated to farming in the area of Sambuca di Siclia and Menfi, in the province of Agrigento, and it as always been in the forefront of developments in Sicilian agriculture. The future production of wine began in 1985 on the shore of the Lake Arancio, near Sambuca di Sicilia, with the main aim being to demonstrate the value of Sicilian wines. Since the first vineyards was planted the Planeta family has concentrated on three important goals: - to gain recognition to the indigenous grape varieties; - to adapt the best international vines to the particular conditions of Sicily; - o restore the fascinating and historic Sicilian D.O.C.;
Derived from the name of the wild flower that grows round our winery, Alastro is a Grecanico blended with two notably aromatic varieties, Grillo and Sauvignon Blanc. Splendidly aromatic, delicately structured, with aromas of tropical fruit, fresh citrus and white flowers.

Today Planeta’s Chardonnay is an icon for the whole of Sicily. The vines of Ulmo and Maroccoli which create it are unique in their location and terroir. Its fermentation and maturing in French barrels, which by now has been carefully planned for years, delivers an extraordinarily graceful, powerful wine.
A great white wine from southern Italian grapes which can be compared with the most important white wines of the world; this was the initial intention. During the 1990′s this was the aim of our experiments with Fiano, a noble and ancient variety originating in Campania.
The Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli comes from a careful selection of the vineyards that surround the beautiful and unique estate of Dorilli, named after the nearby river Dirillo. The oil has a wonderful green colour and a fresh bouquet of herbs, citrus fruit, artichokes and tomatoes. It has a delicate and full flavour and its characteristics, already displayed during the pressing, are preserved throughout thanks to careful attention at every stages of the production.
